Hailey Bieber Knows a Thing or Two About PR

She’s a supermodel, a socialite and married to Justin Bieber, one of the most famous artists of our time. Hailey Bieber lives a life of luxury as a result of strategic moves designed to enhance her public image.
A fashion and style icon of our time, Bieber has broken the internet with her persona. Whether it’s her relaxed-yet-put-together everyday looks, chrome nails, glazed donut skin or even what lipliner combination she’s currently using, it feels like everything Bieber does goes viral on the internet, making her a staple of popular culture in the makeup and beauty industries. Her large, online following and celebrity status have elevated her to Generation Z’s standard of beauty.
Her success on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok allowed Bieber to launch her own beauty brand, Rhode Skin. Rhode’s products are directly inspired by the trends Bieber set forth. The company first launched its products on June 15, 2022, and the collection sold out in minutes. Although she has maintained a nearly pristine public image, Bieber has not been exempt from criticisms of her personal life and career.
Despite achieving great fame and success, Bieber has had a dark cloud continuously looming over her: the alleged love triangle between herself, husband Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Gomez was in a highly publicized, on-again-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber, which ended in March of 2018, just a few months prior to Hailey and Justin’s engagement. Gomez’s fanbase has accused Hailey Bieber of purposely sabotaging Justin Bieber and Gomez’s relationship and being a “homewrecker.” Neither Gomez nor the Biebers have commented on the scandal directly, until recently.

in Los Angeles. The photo’s widespread circulation seemed to put an end to any notion of drama or tension. Fans viewed the photograph as a victory for both parties. Every news outlet from Vogue to CNN covered this historic moment of internet culture.
Bieber publicly commented on the drama surrounding her and her husband’s former flame for the first time on Oct. 15 on the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Host Alex Cooper asked her a series of questions regarding the scandal, where Bieber said that the mean comments from Gomez’s fans had profoundly affected her mental health, but there was no animosity between the two. Bieber also noted that she has had several conversations privately with Gomez since tying the knot with Justin Bieber in 2018.
This wasn’t the first time Hailey Bieber came under fire, either. The disastrous Fyre Festival was one of the biggest PR nightmares of the decade. Although the festival was branded as a luxury music festival experience, attendees were left stranded on a deserted island with no food, housing or amenities. Among other celebrities, Bieber was paid to promote the festival on her social media.
In an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” Bieber stated that she donated the money from her endorsement of the festival to charity. Although Bieber did not reveal the amount that she donated, she clarified that she was receiving up to $20,000 per Instagram post. In her efforts to stay out of a negative spotlight and regain the trust of her fans, the star has utilized her platform for social change.
Bieber is a firm advocate of voting and inspiring the younger generation to register to vote. While on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she called on all eligible voters to register. Recently, she appeared in a PSA for the “I Am a Voter” campaign, and she frequently posts updates and resources for young voters on her Instagram account.
The “scandals” of Hailey Bieber’s career in the spotlight have been anything but simple. Through a series of strategic maneuvers, Bieber has been able to maintain a relatively clean image in the public eye. With a loyal fanbase and prosperous business venture, it is likely that she will continue to be the “it-girl” of our time.
