“If you believe it, you can achieve it.” This simple phrase is commonly repeated to us throughout our lives. We’re told that if you work hard and believe in yourself, then your dreams can become a reality.

As the new year begins, New Year’s resolutions are at an all-time high. For many, the pandemic has seemingly put a pause on their dreams and shifted their focus to a more realistic day-to-day life. Among this uncertainty, Twitter has released a billboard campaign working to spark inspiration to those who may have lost it.

On Jan. 18, 2022, eight billboards were displayed in the hometowns of various celebrities and successful athletes, revealing their past tweets of “manifestation.” In 280 characters or less, celebrities and popular athletes shared their hopes and dreams on Twitter. Behind these tweets were pictures of them accomplishing their dreams.

One billboard featured musician Niall Horan’s tweet “applied for xfactor, hope it all wrks out.” Another highlighted Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who tweeted, ”I bet it feels amazing to be the quarterback who says ‘I’m going to Disney World’ after winning the Super Bowl.”

In seeing these tweets of manifestation, viewers might take their sport more seriously, start writing music or begin auditioning for movies. No matter what they hope for themselves, these billboards and this campaign represent what so many of us hope for: making our dreams a reality.

Along with these billboards, the featured celebrities and Twitter are pledging $1 million to charities of their choosing. The money will go to charities like Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Destination Crenshaw and The 3D Foundation that will help people achieve their dreams.

The significance of this billboard campaign is that it’s able to touch those who also have a dream. These billboards reach people who look up to celebrities and can see themselves in them. Through creating this relationship between Twitter and its users, the social media platform is able to connect with them on another level.

Furthermore, the relationship between Twitter and its users is transforming the platform into a more meaningful space — a space where users are encouraged to post their dreams and share important memories throughout their lives.

This campaign not only highlights the power of manifestation and believing in yourself, but it also reveals a lot about how Twitter wants to be seen by the public. Through this campaign, Twitter is creating a space for dreams and memories to be shared. Maybe next time you tweet, you’ll think about how you could speak your dreams into existence.

Will your next tweet manifest your dreams?
