Platform Magazine is based at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. It started with a charge from The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, which paved the way for a special section of our PR campaigns course. Students were competitively selected for a spot in the class, and nine students were chosen. The course began in January 2007, and consisted of creating an online magazine for PR from the ground up. Under the instruction of Dr. Meg Lamme, Mrs. Susan Daria and Mrs. Tracy Sims, the Platform team chose the publication name, determined its purpose, wrote the first issue’s content and designed the layout of the site. The site was completed and went live on May 3, 2007.
