If you’re an avid TikTok user, odds are you’ve heard of the name Addison Rae. Owning the third-most-followed TikTok account, Addison Rae is widely recognized as a multifaceted social media personality, with over 84 million TikTok followers and 40 million Instagram followers.
In 2019, the influencer quickly rose in popularity due to her dancing talents and cheerful personality. Throughout her career, Addison Rae has remained closely connected with her supporters by engaging with fans in comment sections, following their fan pages, and taking photos or making TikToks with them. Like many influencers, Addison Rae has earned her fair share of brand sponsorships, but courtesy of her large following, content viewership and relationship with her social media audiences, she’s now able to explore career opportunities beyond brand deals.
Working in the beauty industry
In August of 2020, Addison Rae launched her own makeup and skin-care brand called ITEM beauty. The influencer typically promotes these products to her TikTok and Instagram audiences by posting stories, how-to videos and more. A few days after ITEM beauty’s first anniversary, Addison Rae proudly announced that the beauty company would be expanding its products to Sephora, where items will be available for in-store and online purchase.
Making her debut on the big screen
Like many other brands, the streaming company Netflix also seemed to take notice of Addison Rae’s popularity. On Aug. 27, 2021, Addison Rae made her acting debut in the Netflix film “He’s All That.” Fans eagerly anticipated the premiere of the new film, which reached No. 1 on the streaming company’s top charts within the first week of its release. The film’s success resulted in Addison Rae signing a multiproject deal with Netflix for future productions.
While “He’s All That” was Addison Rae’s first movie, she isn’t a newbie to being on camera. The influencer has also made an appearance on the hit reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” due to her unexpected friendship with Kourtney Kardashian. The two were connected through a mutual friend after Addison Rae learned that Kardashian’s son, Mason, was a huge fan.
Taking her talents to the recording studio
In addition to acting and co-founding a beauty company, Addison Rae has also used her following to help kick-start her music career. In March 2021, the influencer released her debut single, “Obsessed,” on several music streaming platforms, accompanied by a music video on YouTube. Her music video has garnered over 23 million views and 195,000 comments. Following the song’s release, Addison Rae was invited on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she performed her single and sat down for an interview.
From attending the Met Gala to appearing on the big screen, Addison Rae has truly pushed the envelope of what it means to be a social media influencer — thanks to the support of her loyal fanbase.
